Khalwale, in a campaign rally for Mariga in Kibra on Thursday, said it is time for Luos residing in Kibra Constituency to support Mariga who is of Luyha ethnicity.

“Bernard Otieno Okoth is from the Luo Community which we respect so much. MacDonald Mariga is from the Luhya Community which we respect so much. In the coming November 7 by-elections, you should not destroy the friendship you have built. I want the Luos to walk to vote for Mariga just like the Luyhas voted for Raila for 25 years”.

The tribal card has featured prominently in the Kibra campaigns with the competing parties wooing the voters along their ethnic lines.

On Tuesday ODM Leader Raila Odinga met with a delegation of representatives from the Kikuyu community who reside in Kibra.

A Facebook post on Raila’s Facebook page said the “representatives had expressed their confidence in and support for Bernard Okoth in the upcoming by-election”.
