EABL on the Spot After Man Finds Fly Trapped in Sealed Vodka

East Africa’s largest brewer EABL has suffered a major safety gaffe after a client complained of finding a housefly inside a sealed spirit.

A video has since emerged of the client showing a housefly trapped inside what appears to be a perfectly sealed 250ml Chrome Vodka.

The spirit, bought at Sh220 according to a receipt seen in the video was one of the major additions into the EABL family after foreign brewers raised the competition bar in 2017.

The customer has since reached out to EABL for a refund but the brewer is understandably yet to respond.

The Alcoholic Drinks Act of 2010 provides that licensed brewers should maintain service quality and hygiene while considering environmental and operating conditions.

It also requires that practices increasing consumer satisfaction and safety and
decreasing user complaints are encouraged.

If the aggrieved client proceeds to Court, EABL could be sued for endangering the lives of its consumers.

This comes months after NACADA chairman John Mututho revealed that half of Kiambu County’s population drink.

Mututho said that out of the 861,000 registered voters in Kiambu, some 450,000 spend at least Sh300 on alcohol daily.

Kiambu is among the counties in Kenya with a large number of people battling alcoholic addition.
