Sonko Exposes Cartels that are Back at City Hall

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has claimed that back at City Hall.

Sonko has alleged that a company that dealt with previous administration that was led by Evans Kidero is demanding payment for services not delivered. The former Nairobi Governor is currently facing multiple corruption charges for the embezzlement of County funds.

Sonko accused the owner of Proland Ltd of using police officers to demand payment for services not rendered.

“The cartels are back again at City Hall. Proland Ltd owned by Mr Fredrick Mungai recorded a consent with Nairobi County Gov’t during the previous administration to be paid Ksh35m for supplying hot air. They were paid over Ksh50m during the previous regime for the supply of air.

Now they’re back with plain cloth police officers at our finance offices to force the County Government to pay more millions at the expense of taxpayer’s money,” Sonko claimed.

The Governor further alleged that the Company has received Ksh175 million without supplying anything to the county.

“As long as I’m the Governor of Nairobi, I will not allow the cartels to steal county government money,” he said.

The Governor has in past instances claimed that cartels have hijacked the operations at City Hall.

Two weeks ago during the launch of Phase 2A of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) he asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to help him dismantle the cartels.

“Mr. President, it is high time that you step in and help me dismantle the cartels in Nairobi. The cartels are entrenched,” he said.
