Celebrated journalist Hussein Mohamed on Tuesday night delivered his final prime time bulletin on Citizen TV following his announcement on October 4.

His colleagues at Royal Media Services surprised the journalist with cakes and gifts to mark his farewell after 10 years at the multi-media broadcaster.

Before he proceeded with the ceremonial cutting of the cake, Hussein took a moment to thank his wife, who he wedded in 2014.

“It has been an amazing journey, 10 years and you the viewers have made it all worth it. You all [colleagues] have made it worth it, including my guests. I appreciate the support and guidance of RMS Chair S.K. Macharia and Vice Chair Gathoni Macharia, the managing director Wachira Waruru, the management, the Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney who was our boss here a while back.

“And, of course, my family. Always. Especially my dear wife who has been my support system all through,” Hussein acknowledged.

The special message to his wife elicited cheers and claps from his colleagues as he gave a wide smile and proceeded to cut the cake.

Hussein went on to thank viewers with a firm disclaimer that he had not left the journalism profession.

“In my line of work you rarely say you are resigning or quitting. That’s why I say tonight, I’m taking a break, I’ll see you around. Thanks for watching,” he clarified.
