Skill Of the Week: Mark Makwatta’s World Class Goal Against Sofapaka

Despite the financial issues present in the Kenyan Premier League at the moment, the league has no shortage of talent. Week after week, the best footballers in the country display breathtaking skills and flicks that leave fans yearning for more.

Last weekend, AFC Leopards climbed up to second in the table following a 2-1 win over Sofapaka at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Both goals were scored by Mark Makwatta in the first half.

His first one displayed a touch of genius, composure and ruthlessness in front of goal. Makwatta juggled the ball twice on the half-turn before fully turning and smashing a thunderbolt shot into the top corner. Below is the video…

The Striker now has five goals to his name so far this season and is the league’s top scorer. He joined AFC from Kuwait side Al-Nasr Sporting club. He has previously played for Nairobi City Stars and Ulinzi stars in the Kenya Premier League.

Next up for AFC Leopards is a clash against Makwattas former side Ulinizi stars at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday, November 3.
