Kiambu Man Kills Mother, Hides Corpse in House

Villagers of Irikia Githia area, in Githunguri, Kiambu, are still reeling in shock after the body of an elderly woman, who had been reported missing, was recovered inside her own house.

The woman was allegedly murdered by her son, who, thereafter, tucked away her injured corpse inside one of the rooms in her house.

Her widower said that Simon Kahara, the suspect, had not been seen since the disappearance of his mother, 73.

Neighbours said that ironically, the suspect was his mother’s favourite son.

“Wakati alikuwa na ugonjwa walikuwa wanampeleka hospitali na kila kitu wanamsaidia nayo (When he was ailing, his family took good care of him and assisted him in all means possible),” the distraught villagers recollected.

In another incident of violence towards aged women, a 22-year-old man is on the run after allegedly raping a granny, 81, in the neighbouring Murang’a County.

According to the victim, the culprit sneaked into her compound and overpowered her, then dragged her to the kitchen, where he assaulted her.

The suspect further bit the elderly woman’s cheek.

Aggrieved neighbours demanded for the quick arrest of the alleged rapist, asserting that the victim is a peaceful woman, who is respected by everyone in the village.

They further decried the nonchalant attitude displayed by the suspect’s father, when they approached him to report the matter, saying that he chased them away without finding out what state his son had left the woman in.
