Ailing Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Tuesday stirred the internet, with a throwback photo of himself admiringly looking at President Uhuru Kenyatta, a leader he is so fond of publicly criticising.
In the photo posted on his social media handles, the former university student leader is seen together with the President and his Deputy William Ruto engaged in a hearty chat.
But what draws attention is the young Owino warmly looking up at Uhuru, who, from the photo’s description, has tremendously let the aspiring president down.
“I will be the leader I wish I had,” Owino captioned.
Although not date-specific, the tibim fame MP has often expressed his interest in the country’s leadership.
Owino’s hilarious photo elicited a mix of responses from his followers, with the majority expressing excitement over the fact that he still intends to run for the Presidency in the future.
The ever humorous Kenyans on social media also came out to play with their sarcastic comments.
In the past, the ODM MP has found himself at loggerheads with Uhuru, with the situation at times escalating to Owino’s imprisonment, for hate speech around the 2017 election period.
Owino, whose real name is Paul Ongili, has also in the past expressed his pessimism over the Handshake between Uhuru, and his party leader, Raila Odinga.
Interestingly, Owino and Uhuru from time to time appear to be on the same page despite their political rivalry.
