AFC Leopards Beat Sofapaka as Wazito’s Winless Run continues

AFC Leopards climbed up to second in the Kenya Premier League table following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sofapaka on Sunday. Cassa Mbungo’s side is now unbeaten in six league outings since losing the first match of the season to Kakamega Homeboyz.

Former Ulinzi stars striker John Mark Makwatta gave Leopards the lead in the 1 minute with a brilliantly taken goal. The striker showed great skills to control the ball and finish on the half turn.

Makwatta was at it again just 17 minutes later, this time converting with a close-range finish from a low cross from the right. Sofapaka upped the tempo and were rewarded with a consolation goal in the dying minutes of the match through Ronald Okoth.

The win leaves Gor Mahia second on the table with 14 points, one behind leaders and eternal rivals Gor Mahia while Sofapaka is 12th with 7 points.

Meanwhile, Wazito FC kicked off Melis Medos reign with a drab scoreless draw with Posta Ranger at the Kenyatta Stadium. It was a match of few chances with neither team showing attacking intent. Wazito is 13th on the log with 7 points while Posta Rangers climb up to 8th on the log with 10 points.
