Sofapaka goalkeeper Isma Watenga has lost his father Mzee, Daniel Bwayo, the club has announced.
Mzee Bwayo is said to have passed on after a short battle with illness. His demise comes a week after another Sofapaka keeper Isaiah Wakasala lost his father.
In a statement, Batoto Ba Mungu mourned Watenga senior whilst promising to stand with the bereaved custodian.
“The Sofapaka family has been thrown into mourning once again. Our number one goalkeeper Isma Watenga last evening lost his beloved father. We join him and his family at this difficult time of mourning and wish them Allah’s grace and comfort,” read the statement.

Uganda Football Federation (FUFA) also condoled the family and promised to communicate the burial arrangement in due time.
“FUFA is saddened by the death of Mzee Daniel Bwayo father of Uganda Cranes Goalkeeper Isma Watenga. We pray to the good Lord to comfort Isma and family. Burial arrangements will be communicated later. May his soul rest in peace,” read the statement from the federation.

Watenga joined Sofapaka at the start of the season from Ethiopian top tier side, Ethiopian Coffee SC.
