Tangatanga Leaders Have Joined Winning Side – Ngunjiri

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has slammed a section of Mt Kenya leaders who on Thursday declared that they would oppose the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) proposals if views from the region are not factored in the final report.

Ngunjiri accused the MPs of refusing to attend the BBI public forums with the view that it was going nowhere but are now making demands when the process is complete.

“We are happy to see that the Tangatanga leaders from our region who were fighting BBI have now joined the winning side.

We also understand that when BBI was collecting views from members of the public from the Mt Kenya region, this section of Mt Kenya leaders refused to attend these forums and present their views” he said.

The MP alleged that the MPs have realized the BBI is unstoppable albeit late.

He urged “them to be patient and wait for the report” adding that “they will then realize that all the issues they are raising were raised by those of us who presented views to BBI”

With the BBI team expected to present its report to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga soon having completed its task, political temperatures are slowing rising in the country.

Women leaders under the label Team Embrace Kenya on Friday toured Mwingi, Kitui County where they urged Kenyans to support the initiative.

Murang’ a Woman Representative Sabina Chege accused Mt Kenya MPs who are opposed to the BBI of turning their backs on President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Homabay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga accused critics of the BBI of failing to present their views to the BBI team as it was going around the country.

“We have seen people come out to say unless their views are in the report, they are not going to support it. They should have presented their views first” Gladys said.
