A 75-year-old woman was raped and murdered in her own house in Namunyiri village, Kakamega county on Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, Sinoko location Chief Mr Simiyu Siakama said the body of T.I was discovered by neighbours on Wednesday morning.
Siakama said the assailants gained entry into the granny’s house where she stays alone after breaking the backdoor.
He said preliminary investigations show that the old woman was raped before being strangled to death adding that her body had visible injuries.
Rose Amokola, a neighbour, who was first to see the body said she got concerned after a passer-by informed her that he had seen the victim’s house’s door open early in the morning.
She said nobody knew when the incident happened since they did not hear any screams or commotion during the night.
Police officers from Matunda removed the body to Kitale Sub County Hospital mortuary for postmortem as they launched an investigation into the incident.
Mrs. Isebwe is the fourth woman to be raped and murdered this October.
Other victims include W.G, 24, who was raped and killed on the night of October 1, at Mapendo village in Sango location and J.O, 65, together with her 13-year-old niece M. D who were also sexually assaulted before being strangled to death on the night of October 6 at Nzoia village.
