Zidane Admits Mourinho-Madrid Links Are Bothering Him

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has for the first time admitted that reports linking Jose Mourinho with a return to Santiago Bernabéu are troubling him.

The Frenchman returned to the Spanish capital earlier this year but his second spell with the club has not been successful and there have been reports suggesting that he could be shown the door with Jose Mourinho who is currently without a club touted to replace him.

Madrid plays Turkish side Galatasaray in a Champions League match on Tuesday evening and Zidane will be hoping that is team gets its first group match win after faltering in their opening two games where they lost to PSG and registered a shocking home draw against Club Brugge.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday showdown, Zidane, who led Madrid to three consecutive UCL titles admitted that he is feeling the pressure amidst calls for him to get fired and be replaced by the Portuguese tactician.

“In football, people forget what you’ve done in the past. The important thing is present…I’m not going to say it doesn’t bother me what is being said about other coaches because it does,” he stated.

On Tuesday’s assignment, the Real Madrid legend said his side will be out to pick maximum points from the clash.

“But what I have to do as a coach is to give everything, get the players to do the same, to give everything – and that’s all I can do. It’s a great game to play in, a great stadium, Champions League…we know what the situation is and we’re going to try and win,” he added.
