Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa was left in shame after ODM made it clear who is boss following the conclusion of the Ganda Ward by-election.

ODM sent a clear message to it’s rivals that they are not to be meddled with when it comes to trespassers invading their territory.

The Raila Odinga led party, clinched the seat with a resounding victory a day after drama rocked the preparations of the contest.

Reuben Mwamure Katana clinched the seat in a win that was termed flawless.

Sources indicated that Katana garnered 4177 votes which was approximately double of what his closest competitor, Abdul Omar got, which was 2331 votes.

Other candidates in the race, Joseph Jossepe and David Mitsanze, got 599 votes and 362 votes respectively.

The group did not waste time to congratulate their new MCA who beat the odds to turn a gloomy situation into a triumphant one.

It was a double celebration for the opposition party after it also retained its seat in Abikale Ward.

“Congratulations Reuben Mwamure Katana and Mohamed Sheikh Ali for your victories in Ganda Ward in Malindi Constituency and Abakaile Ward in Daadab Constituency respectively.

“We are proud of you. Now go and serve your people.” read a tweet from ODM.

The win for ODM has given them the upper hand in the tussle against the embattled Jumwa who had supported Omar during the contest.

In 2017, Omar had won the seat on an ODM ticket before he ditched the ‘Chungwa’ party after his election was nullified.

On Wednesday, Jumwa found herself between a rock and a hard place after she was arrested following a shooting incident that ensued during an ODM agents meeting.

The tough talking lawmaker on Tuesday stormed the gathering where agents were being trained ahead of the Thursday decider.

The drama went from bad to worse after the enraged MP snatched a firearm arm belonging to her bodyguard and aimed it at Katana after identifying him from the crowd.

The bullet meant for Katana accidentally missed its target and hit his uncle, Gumbao Jola, who died after succumbing to his injuries.

The Jubilee party member was however released by the court on a cash bail of Ksh 500,000 or a bond of Ksh 1 million and a surety of the same amount.

Senior magistrate Vincent Adet ruled that the court had the right to defend the rights of the accused until she was proven guilty.

Adet further asserted that the matter was handed to the DCI for investigations and that the politician is expected to report to their offices on October 22.
