The nurse Silas Mugambi, aged 35, was driving a Toyota Caldina at the time of the accident died on Wednesday after his car collided head-on with an incoming Matatu at Kaithe area along Meru-Maua road.

Nine other passengers sustained serious injuries when the accident occurred after the matatu which was headed to Maua from Meru town tried to avoid a pothole colliding head-on with his car headed in the opposite direction.

The deceased who was headed to Meru town for an appointment with a doctor was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Meru Level Five Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was rushed for treatment.

Other victims are admitted in the same hospital in serious but stable condition following the grisly accident.
