Raila Junior Defends Handshake With Clear Message Over Economic Woes

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his political nemesis Nasa leader Raila Odinga bury the hatchet through handshake on March 9 2019.

Raila Junior Odinga has come to the defence of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s  Handshake following The Standard newspaper’s reporting faulting the truce for the country’s economic woes.

The Scion through his twitter handle, in all appearances, vindicated his father and the head state from the increasing cases of unemployment, borrowing spree and the dwindling economic fortunes.

Raila Junior said the Handshake was not to blame for the aforementioned crisis adding that they existed way before the two political nemeses buried the hatchet.

Raila Junior Odinga, son to ODM leader Raila Odinga defends Handshake.

“Blaming economy woes on the handshake is preposterous, our economy has not been doing well from way before so is the unemployment rate, economic solutions have to be sought beyond scapegoating,” said Raila Junior.

In The Standard reporting dubbed the curse of the handshake, the newspaper reported that the truce between the two leaders had brought more harm than good to the country.

In its blow by blow analysis of its impact on the leadership, the newspaper indicated that Parliament was no longer functioning independently adding that the opposition was as good as dead.

“With the Opposition in Parliament virtually non-existent, and the civil society neutered to the bones, the public is on its own.

Watchdogs committees appear to have abdicated their mandate to ensure robust oversight of government which punctures accountability while vetting processes have become routine rubber-stamping of executive nominees,” reads in part the reporting on the Standard newspaper.

The Newspaper also indicated that erstwhile critics of the government had been rendered mum such that there is no whistleblowing of any underworld dealings within the government due to the handshake.

“Yesterdays’ critics have become today’s cheerleaders as the March 9, 2018 handshake blurs political lines – almost turning the House into a one-party chamber where government business is railroaded without opposition,” reported the newspaper.
