An exiled advocate of the High Court Miguna Miguna has come to the defence of Jubilee Party candidate in the Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga over the ongoing onslaught on his political ambition.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, the lawyer attacked those who were against Mariga’s ambition insinuating that they are contradicting themselves.

Miguna said opposing Mariga’s ambitions yet he was heavily supported during his days as a football star was nothing short of hypocrisy.

“A lot of Kenyans on Twitter and Facebook are dishonest.

When McDonald Mariga was playing International football, he was cheered as a “Kenyan hero” but the moment he expressed interest in the Kibra seat, he suddenly became a ‘foreigner’,” said Miguna.

Mariga’s candidature in the Kibra by-election has come under heavy criticism after rival camp labelled him an outsider.

This s after it emerged that the Jubilee Candidate was not a voter in Kibra constituency since he had registered in Starehe Constituency nearly 10 days after a gazette notice of the by-election was made public.

Mariga, despite being a candidate will not vote for himself since he is not a voter in Kibra constituency.

The former football star is facing competition from ODM’s Bernard Okoth and ANC’s Eliud Owalo among other 20 candidates cleared by the IEBC.

The by-election is slated for November 7.
