He also revealed that the party already had a candidate in Kibra by-election who will be seeking to succeed the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

He added that the party was considering fielding probably a woman candidate but he assured the nation that whoever will run for the top seat would not have ever run for the same in their lives.

“I am the party leader of Ukweli Party and we have a candidate in Kibra who will be running for the constituency’s seat, her name is Edith Ochieng. Ukweli party will actually have a presidential candidate in 2022.

The candidate might be a woman but what we can assure is that whoever will run for the seat, it would be their first time to run for the presidency,” stated Mwangi

Mwangi refuted claims the party was planning to field former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga as the party’s presidential candidate saying Mutunga had zero interests in politics at the moment.

“Willy Mutunga has zero interests in politics. He is busy playing with his grandchildren and teaching. He is not vying for any public position, not today not in the future.” revealed Mwangi.

While laying blame on President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, the activist revealed the two had taken Kibra for a ride through a candidate they presented to them.

According to Mwangi, it was so disrespectful for the two to give Kibra an aging footballer who lied about his age, who has never voted before and has also has been promoting betting and gambling among Kenyan youths.

He also lashed out at the President saying he cared less about leaving a good legacy.  According to the activist, if the president was serious in his war against corruption, he would have fired many of his cabinet secretaries including his deputy.

“President Uhuru doesn’t care about legacy. If he cared some of the people in his cabinet could be in jail, and he couldn’t even be having a deputy,” Mwangi concluded.
