Police Officer Killed in Tragic Accident

A motorcycle involved in a past accident

An officer from the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) died after being involved in a nasty accident in Siaya County.

The officer identified as Emmanuel Ooko Oduor, perished on Sunday after being hit by a matatu while travelling on a motorcycle along the Busia – Kisumu Highway at Got Nanga Area Within Ugenya Sub County,Siaya County.

A police group on Facebook known as ‘Officers in Operation’ who confirmed the incident, revealed that the deceased suffered serious injuries to his chest.

Further information disclosed that Emmanuel died on arrival at Siaya County Referral Hospital.

It was added that his body would be preserved at the health facility as burial arrangements were being made.

The incident comes a day after Rabai OCS Henry Marube was killed in a road crash along the Kaloleni-Mazeras highway, Mombasa County.

David Maina who is the Rabai sub county police commander, stated that the tragedy struck as Henry was heading to work.

Maina pointed out that the OCS lost control of his vehicle which later crashed after hitting a stone.

“He (Henry) was heading towards Bondora when his car veered right, hitting a big stone.”

“We cannot establish whether there is anything that distracted him because he was alone in the car.” remarked Maina.

The police boss noted that the body of the officer had been rushed to a hospital in Bondora by boda boda operators who were at the scene, and was later transferred to Mariakani Sub County Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
