has thrown his weight behind the destruction of the illegal Chinese gaming machines popularly known as “tunyonde” in his constituency by security agencies.
Mr Musyoka’s support comes barely a week after the area police destroyed by burning, over 30 of the machines which were confiscated from businessmen in Masii town.
So far, over 60 such machines have been set ablaze under the watch of the area Deputy County Commissioner Alphazard Gitonga and Sub-County Commander Ronald Kirui.
Speaking over the weekend at Makutano DEB Primary school in the constituency, during the funeral service of the late Director of the Lloyd Masika Limited, Timothy Mutua Mutisya, Eng. Musyoka noted that the addictive coin-slot gadgets which were banned by the government last year posed a real security threat to the area, as youths were forsaking school, or stealing to be able to play them.
He took issue with businessmen who have re-introduced the outlawed cheap and addictive gaming gadgets in their shops noting that they did not care about the welfare of the area youth or the security of the area.
He regretted that there is a rise in drug abuse among the area youths, including those in school, and called on the residents to volunteer any information that could lead to the arrest of the peddlers, particularly those targeting school-going children.
“We want your cooperation because there is a lot of drugs in circulation in our schools and we want to stop this,” he added.
In a bid to boost security in the constituency, Mr Musyoka announced that his office, through its NGCDF would fund the construction of five new police stations.
“We have laid out a plan to increase the police stations from one to six. We will have a police station in each of our six wards,” Eng. Musyoka said, adding that works on three of them had started.
He also revealed that the fund would upgrade the existing Makutano AP lines. Currently, the constituency has one police station at Masii town.
