Husband, House Help to Remain In Custody Over The Death of MP’s Sister

The husband to the woman found dead, on Friday, at their home in Wembley Estate in Ruiru will remain in custody for five more days pending investigations.

This is after Stephen Ndolo Kioo and his house help Violet Nafula Wanjala were arraigned before Ruiru Senior Principal Magistrate Clara Otieno and charged over the woman’s death.

Ndolo was arrested on the day that the deceased body was found.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer Patrick Okumu filed an application to detain the two for 10 days to allow for further investigations into the death 41-year-old Jane Murugi Mukuha.

Mukuha who was a clinical officer from Machakos County is the sister to Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago Mukuha.

The deceased husband is the Makueni County director of health.

According to Okumu, the two suspects gave contradicting statements thus the need to comb through their mobile phones, which are already with the DCI-cyber crime section, for analysis.

“The duo’s story of events are inconsistent hence more time is needed to carry out thorough interrogation, investigate their call data, messages and get the results from government chemist,” said Mr Okumu.

In an affidavit sworn by Okumu, Ndolo called a neighbour at around 5 am and told him that the wife had committed suicide by hanging n the washroom.

The neighbour thereafter called the police who found the deceased half seated on the toilet bowl. Her neck was tied up loosely to a window grill by a piece of cloth joined with a necktie.

The investigating officer further indicated that the CPU of the CCTV, in all appearances, was interfered with.

Okumu in the affidavit say when he asked Ndolo for the password he said the deceased was the only one who knew it.

According to the affidavit, the house help, when asked whether she knew or observed anything, she kept mum.

However, a police source at Ruiru Police Station said results for the postmortem conducted on Saturday shows the deceased committed suicide, reported the standard.

Ndolo and Mukuha had three children aged 9 and 7 years, and the youngest who is two months old.
