PHOTOS: Highlights from the overly hyped Tusker Oktober Fest

Gengetone artists killed the show on Saturday night at the overly hyped beer festival which went down at Ngong Racecourse-Nairobi.

Kenyans turned up in large numbers to set up the mood for the night and there was great excitement that was reflected through social media reactions.

The Tusker Oktoba festival is a two-day event and judging from the Saturday performances, it can all be described as one of a kind.

The event was intentionally organized to celebrate Kenyan authenticity, by bringing to life Kenyan culture through beer, entertainment, food, and music.

Some of the artists who headlined on day one of the festival include; Ethic, Sauti Sol, Juacali, Ochungulo Family, Sailors, Nvrii and Bensoul, Kansoul and Fena.

The lineup was a perfect blend of afro-pop and Gengetone music- which is the new wave in the entertainment industry.

Apart from the artists’ performances on stage, the festival also had a gaming area, with interactive activities that include festival and arcade games, touch rugby, giant jenga and pool amongst others.

Most of the people in the crowd were dressed according to the theme of the event. (Yellow and Black)

Others were in skimpy outfits which probably suit the raunchy dance moves that match the music. A few could be spotted in warm clothes to chase the cold throughout the night.

Apart from gengetone lovers, some well-known celebrities including Mc Jessy, Shaffie Weru, Miss Kihoro and others were also in attendance.

For the foodies, they managed to enjoy a variety of Kenyan street food from Nyama Choma, samosas, mutura and other delicacies.

Here are some of the photos and videos from the event
