Police have confiscated over 2500 rolls of bhang worth Ksh12.6m at a residential house in Kiembeni Estate in Kisauni, Mombasa County following a tip-off from members of the public
In a Facebook post, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that a search in the house resulted in officers finding 42 large Nigerian bags piled in one of the rooms. The bags were filled with bhang wrapped in brown khaki bags.
The search conducted by a multi-agency team resulted in the arrest of a suspect Vivian Auma who is the owner of the house.
The suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday.
Also, detectives from DCI on Friday nabbed a farm caretaker in a bhang operation in Rongai.
The detectives arrested 43 – Year-Old suspect Nipson Namoru (caretaker of the farm) after it was discovered that bhang was grown alongside maize crop at the farm in Morop, Rongai.
The officers led by Nakuru County Deputy Commissioner also uprooted the banned plant.
The Friday arrests follow Wednesday arrest of three officers who were nabbed ferrying 254 kilos of bhang near Kanyonyoo Market along Garissa- Thika Highway.
The suspects Japhet Fondo, Bob Otieno and Michael Mwangi were also in possession of Ksh239,500.
