Tanzanian Lady Nabbed Over Selling Two Children For Ksh115K

A lady was on Friday arrested for allegedly trying to sell two children in Bondo, Siaya County.

It was reported that the police arrested the Tanzanian national who was claimed to be putting the two up for sale for Ksh 115,000.

Additional information revealed that the criminal had already sold two others in Kisumu before she was apprehended by the authorities.

The identity of the foreigner and the reason behind the act is yet to be disclosed.

In July 2019, a woman was arrested in Migori County after claims that she had sold her 45 year-old baby.

Njeru Nyaga, who is the Migori County Director of Criminal Investigations, remarked that the lady was caught after the completion of the arrangement with three other people.

In 2017, a lady in Nakuru was busted for attempting to sell a day old baby in a bid to get money to start a vegetable business in Nakuru.

The 26 year-old lady was nabbed during a meeting with an undercover officer after striking a deal to purchase the infant for Ksh 80, 000.

Officers from the Children’s department from the county led by David Wawire, had acted on a tip off .

A man identified as Mwagi, who was the owner of a children’s home in the town, explained that the criminal had approached him with the offer before reporting the matter to the police.

“It was a hard job and we had to provide for her upkeep for the last three months of the pregnancy to keep the baby safe,” stated one of the officers who posed as Mwangi’s spouse during the negotiations.
