Man Hangs Self at His Business in Kirinyaga

A 59-year-old market vendor died after allegedly hanging himself on the roof of his fruit store at an open air market in Mwea East, Kirinyaga County.

Peter Karanja Mbure was found hanging from the roof of the store with a rope around his neck suggesting that the incident was suicide.

His body was moved to the Embu Level Five Hospital awaiting post mortem.

Police have opened inquests into the death.

In the same county, a 23-year-old woman was electrocuted to death while adjusting her TV antennae outside her house.

Winnie Wambui, a resident of Kanyangeni Estate in Tebere location died Tuesday evening in the accident believed to have been caused by an electric fault.

Her body was moved to Kibugi Funeral Home.

In the neighbouring Embu County, armed robbers killed two people when they attacked Texas Club in Gikuuri.

According to the club owner, the unknown men stormed the club armed with crude weapons and attacked a bar maid, Lucy Christine Oatwiri, a watchman namely Martin Munene and one customer namely, Kennedy Njiru Namu.

Namu died on the spot having suffered serious injuries on his head, while Munene, who also suffered serious injuries, died while receiving treatment at the Embu Level Five Hospital.

Oatwiri is recuperating at the same hospital.

The robbers stole two Meko gas cylinders, a woofer radio, assorted beer stock and one Keg cylinder.
