Bandari United missed out on a chance to go top of the Kenya Premier League table when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Posta Rangers in a match played at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa on Thursday.

The visitors went ahead in the 21st minute through Francis Nabwire’s shot which deflected off Micheal Wanyika in the Bandari goal. Bernard Mwalala’s men upped the tempo and almost got level by Shabaan Kenga’s freekick deflected just inches over the crossbar and out for a corner that would amount to nothing.

Kenga was having a good game and it was no surprise that he was the one who came up with the equalizer on the stroke of half time. Abdalla’s brilliant run from the right saw him put in across that was headed home by Kenga to ensure that the match was level going into half time.

The water clogged pitch was not helping Bandari’s ‘carpet’ football and in abid to change the style of play, the lanky Wycliffe Ochomo was introduced in place of Kenga.

Long balls became the order of the day but as you would expect from a team managed by Sammy Omollo, Posta Rangers were more than ready to deal with such threats.

Rangers held on to claim a valuable away point and climbed to 11th on the log with 5 points with Bandari also propelling up the table with 8 points and are 3rd on the log behind leaders Gor Mahia and Western Stima in second place.
