ODM party on Wednesday held a fundraiser for their Kibra candidate Imran Okoth ahead of the slated by-election.

The event that was graced by the partly leader Raila Odinga, was a move to help fund Imran’s campaign in his bid to win the race.

During the event, Minority Whip Junet Mohammed stated that the party did not rely on corruption money to sell itself to the people of Kibra.

Junet pointed out that the gesture by the party members and well wishers was to show the credibility of Imran’s bid.

He further explained that as a party, they were confident to capture the seat that was left vacant by the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.

“Our candidate does not have the kind of money that is being pumped in Kibra by gamblers and illicit traders. So we are here to ensure his message is not drowned in the cheap politics of voter bribery that is now being introduced in Kibra. He will win.” remarked the Minority Whip.

The statement by the tough talking Junet referred to the alleged efforts being used by their rivals led by Deputy President William Ruto and Jubilee Kibra candidate Macdonald Mariga in conducting campaigns.

On Tuesday, during a parliamentary group meeting that was chaired by Raila, the MPs agreed to each contribute Ksh 50,000 towards the initiative.

This verdict was agreed upon after the veteran politician had call upon the leaders to show their backing in preparation for the November 7 election.
