Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahai moved at the summit of the League table following a comfortable 2-0 win over Nzoia Sugar at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County.

Steven Pollack’s side, fresh from a 2-0 loss in the Champions league to Algerian side SUM Alger came off the blocks flying and almost scored in the first five minutes but Francis Afriyie’s shot was just inches over the bar.

K’ogallo would however not be denied just ten minutes in when captain Kenneth Muguna arrived in the box to blast a fierce shot past the onrushing Nzoia goalkeeper for the opening goal.

Muguna was having a splendid game and hos confidence was laid bare for everyone to see. It was his foul that earned Gor Mahia a freekick that was superbly curved by Cliffton Miheso for Gor Mahia’s second of the match after only 27 minutes of play Nzoia simply could not deal with him!

The second half did not produce much goalmouth action with the home side keen to sit back and defend as damage control. Nicholas Kipkirui came one with 20 minutes to go and almost got on the score sheet himself but his header from a Miheso cross hit the bar.
