Jumwa Sends Clear Message To Raila As She Meets Mariga

Aisha Jumwa speaks to a group of Luhyas delegates at unknown Hotel in Nairobi to campaign for Mariga

Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has sent a clear message to Nasa Leader Raila Odinga after meeting Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga at a hotel in Nairobi.

In video footage shared by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, the MP who was recorded speaking to Luhya delegates, who held a meeting with Mariga, said she will not ditch the DP’s camp.

“I have come to clarify what has been reported during the day. I said clearly that I am not going to DP Ruto’s camp. So that is the position of my heart and in fact in that meeting never talked anything,” she said

The rebel ODM member urged the Luhya delegates to vote for Mariga saying he was truly their own.

“The Bible says in Revelation 3: 11. It orders us that we cling to that which is ours so that nobody else can come and snatch it from us.

For that reason, I want to tell you that we hold that which we have. And what we have is Mariga because he is ours. So you define church member Mariga is ours,” said Jumwa.

The MP also took a swipe at ANC candidate Edwin Owalo for calling Mariga a tout saying she had abused the Luhya community.

On Tuesday, the defiant member was captured on camera together with the Nasa leader and other officials from the Orange party.

Reports later circulated on social media that the MP had ditched DP Ruto and shifted allegiance to her party leader and ODM candidate, Bernard Imran Okoth, in the Kibra by-election.

A statement by the ODM’s director of communication Philip Etale fuelled the reports after he posted on his social media accounts that Jumwa was back to her mother party.

“Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa today officially ditched Team Tangatanga and vowed to vigorously campaign for Bernard Okoth Imran for the Kibra Parliamentary Seat.

She attended the party Parliamentary Group meeting at County Hall chaired by Party Leader H.E. Raila Odinga. Imran was also introduced to the members,” said Etale in a tweet.

However, Etale deleted the tweet hours later raising eyebrows whether his earlier assertions were valid.

But according to Jumwa, who spoke to the Star newspaper, Raila only made a surprise visit to his Parliamentary Service Commission’s Office in the company of the ODM candidate adding that she had not dumped Ruto.
