2 Dead In Nasty Accident Along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway

Motorcycle involved in Voi Accident

Two people on Tuesday died following a collision between a lorry and a motorcycle along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway at Voi.

Sources indicated that the two were identified as the rider and the passenger, who died on the spot.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined by the authorities.

This is the second incident in a span of two months in the area after one person died while 16 other people sustained serious injuries following an accident that involved a vehicle ferrying Reli Gonga Football Club (FC) in August.

The club’s chairman Mwaisaka  Mwalegha had stated that the driver of the vehicle lost control leading to the car rolling severally.

Mwalegha further disclosed that most of the players had been trapped underneath the wreckage.

The injured were taken Moi County Referral Hospital where they received treatment.

“We lost one player in the accident. Three others sustained serious injuries but the rest were discharged.” remarked Mwalegha.

Voi OCPD, Bernastein  Shari, who had confirmed the incident, asserted that investigations into the matter had commenced.

The wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Voi Police Station.

Preliminary reports had however indicated that the hired vehicle was alleged to have carried excess passengers.
