Amani National Congress candidate in the forthcoming Kibra by-elections, Eliud Owalo, has rubbished reports indicating that he is bound to step-down for Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga.

The former ODM Party leader aide said his candidature is unbowed adding that those waiting for his resignation are set for a rude shock.

“I am a man with unshakable stand. My position on matters of human rights and good governance is well known. Some have started spreading rumours that I am going to step aside for Mariga.

Surely, how can an educated person like me step down for a tout? what kind of stupidity is that?” said Owalo.

The ANC candidate also declared that he will never support politicians with questionable leadership claiming that his track record on whoever he supports speaks for itself.

He rubbished reports linking him to Deputy President William Ruto insisting that he will be on the ballot.

“Let me tell you one thing, I supported Raila because I know he has a solid position on matters of corruption and governance.

I now stand with Musalia Mudavadi because he is equally for good governance and transparency.

Now, can Owalo stand with trusted persons such as Raila and Mudavadi then shift my allegiance to a thief? I will never support Ruto,” he added.

The Kibra by-election has attracted more than 20 candidates.

ODM Party awarded its ticket to Bernard Imran who is set to lock horns with Jubilee party’s McDonald Mariga and the ANC candidate among others.

The seat fell vacant after the immediate MP Ken Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer on July 26.

The by-election is slated for November 7.
