‘Never Mind Sifuna, Nasa Is Still Intact’- Kalonzo

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka maintains Nasa Coalition is intact.

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has assured Nasa supporters that the coalition is still intact despite the simmering tension brought about by the entry of party members in the Kibra by-election.

Speaking on Monday at Wiper headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, Kalonzo said Nasa coalition cannot be dissolved by one party.

” We had an ODM candidate in Embakasi by-election, that did not ruin Nasa…This is a by-election, it will not ruin, in my view, the coalition.

Never mind what the ODM Secretary-General said that he has instructions from the party leader to disband the party.

Nasa cannot be disbanded by one party. If ODM wants to leave, Nasa will still be intact,” said Kalonzo.

The former Vice President added that a legal binding that made Nasa is clear on how the coalition can be disbanded adding that only three parties can put the coalition on its deathbed.

The wiper leader revealed that his party decided to back Ford Kenya candidate in the Kibra to reciprocate what the Wetangula-led party did to them in Embakasi South by-election.

“My brother Weta was with me when we presented Mawathe’s candidature to the IEBC.

Even at the final rally, the whole team of Ford Kenya campaigned for Wiper’s candidate in Embakasi by-election. So if Weta wants me to support his candidate I will,” he said.

The one-time presidential candidate also claimed that ANC candidate approached him for his views in his candidature for the Kibra seat.

The entry of Nasa affiliate parties in the Kibra by-election sparked uproar among ODM leaders who accused their colleagues of betrayal.

The ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna said the parties had violated the coalition’s pact hence the need to disband it.

Sifuna announced that ODM will field a candidate in each part of the country regardless of whether the region is a strong-hold of any affiliated party belonging to the Nasa coalition.

He further revealed that he had been ordered by his party leader Raila Odinga to disband the Nasa coalition once the Kibra by-election was done.

“We want to know our true friends. You cannot be claiming you are our friend and when it comes to fighting for what is right, you are the one to oppose us. So after the elections, I will sign the memo of ODM exiting the NASA coalition,” said Sifuna.
