“We provided sweet potato, arrowroots and pumpkin seeds to all the attendees and the foundation will offer farm extension follow-ups to ensure seed utility all the way to harvesting. The foundation also through its market networks, will provide a market for any surplus produce” reassured Buzeki.

According to the Chama Cha Mashinani CCM politician, Mlo Mashinani Initiative will help solve the problem of the already limited land for farming, increasing nutritional demands as well as helping in agricultural diversification.

“As the land mass continues to shrink and the population and nutritional demand expands, there is need to reinvent the way we do our agriculture to ensure we have optimum production under small land scales and also reap economic value from it,” he maintained.

The first phase of the project is going to start with Buzeki’s Ainabkoi/Olare ward before rolling out to other regions.

Women groups will be trained and given certified seeds which they will plant and will be closely monitored by the Buzeki foundation. The produce will be used as food for the locals and the surplus be channeled to the markets through the TAI OLE TAI SACCO.

Buzeki has already announced that he will be battling it out for Uasin Gishu county gubernatorial seat through CCM party in 2022. He joined CCM after falling out with DP William Ruto in May.
