Nurse Dead, 3 injured as Ambulance Losses Control in Eldoret

One person has been reported dead and three others left with multiple injuries after an ambulance lost control and collided with two other vehicles in Eldoret

According to reports from Langas police station, the accident happened at Eldoret International Airport gate along Eldoret-Kapsabet road.

It is reported that the ambulance, a Toyota land cruiser with a registration number GKB 637M, belonging to Nandi county government, was heading to Eldoret from Kapsabet on Tuesday night.

The Ambulance which was carrying three patients and two nurses is reported to have hit the rear right side of a Mercedes car which was parked halfway on the lane facing Eldoret direction just opposite the airport.

In the process, the ambulance lost control and collided with another oncoming vehicle. As a result, one nurse namely Samuel Kiprotich died on the spot while the three patients sustained multiple injuries.

Body of the deceased was moved to Moi Teaching and referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere in Nairobi county, an unknown male adult was hit and killed by a train. The victim is reported to have been walking along the railway line while talking on the phone before he was hit and died on the spot.

The body was moved to city mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification. Police have launched investigations into the incident.
