Daring 15-Year-Old Escapes From Kakamega Remand Home

A 15- year-old boy was on September 24 reported missing from a Kakamega Juvenile remand home.

Dan Mariga was being held at the remand home pending a court hearing at the Kakamega law courts and is suspected to have escaped.

The minor had been accused and taken into police custody for an offence of causing grievous harm.

A search to find the boy is in place with efforts to trace him being fruitless so far.

Elsewhere, a group of four men invaded a home in Lucose Village in Shinyalu constituency and defiled a 14-year-old girl.

According to area Chief Gerald Murunga, one of the gang members defiled the girl.

The gang did not steal anything from the home other than defiling their daughter.

Mr Murunga visited the scene of the crime and rushed the victim to Shiyalu Health Centre, where she was treated and discharged.

The case is being investigated at Shinyalu police station and the suspects have not yet been arrested.

In another part of Kakamega county, a body of an unknown male adult was found floating at Lumino Dam within Maji Village.

The body was retrieved from the water reservoir and taken to Kitale County Hospital mortuary for postmortem and identification.
