As a result of the tragic incident which happened at Precious Talents School claiming eight pupils’ lives, the rest of the students will be transferred to several schools in the neighbourhood.
This is after Education CS George Magoha revoked licences of Precious and another school, Pama Academy in Kangemi, citing safety concerns.
Nearly 800 pupils who were at Precious Talents School will be transferred to Ngong Forest Primary School, which will take up 480 learners, 130 to Riruta Satellite Primary School and 180 will be taken to Jamhuri Primary School.
The 472 pupils from Pama Academy will be distributed to New Kihumbuini and Kihumbuini primary schools.
The Ministry of Education will provide desks and books for the learners at their new schools according to CS Magoha.
Despite refuting claims of the blame game, after reports revealed there was malpractice in the construction of the ill-fated two-storey structure, Magoha said the accident could have been avoided.
The CS had previously directed that Precious Talents School be closed for a week to allow for investigations into the Monday morning tragedy.
Prof Magoha said the findings of a task force, established to compile a report on the tragedy at Precious Talents Top School that claimed the lives of eight pupils, will be handed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for further investigation and possible prosecution.
On Wednesday, he also shut down St. Catherine’s Children Educational Centre in Kibra, which according to him, the structures at the school bore a likeness to the one at Precious Talents School.
He also vowed that the government will continue to inspect and shut down non-compliant schools.
