Just some hours after promising that the government will construct a new public primary school at Ngando area, Dagoretti South, in three months, Deputy President Wiliam Ruto has been slammed by a section of online users.
Unsatisfied social media users termed Ruto’s remarks as unreliable while accusing him of waiting for a disaster to strike so as to act.
Ruto, through his Twitter account, had confirmed that the State Department of Public works and Education, in collaboration with the board of Lenana School were in the process of putting up a public primary school in the area.
He maintained that the school is expected to be ready by the beginning of January in a bid to cater for the children of Ngando, where the Precious Talent School tragedy occurred on Monday.

Ruto’s assurance came following the Precious Talent School classroom collapse, which left seven pupils dead and more than 64 others hospitalised.
The incident was partly attributed to the poor quality of classroom buildings.
Despite visiting the affected school on Monday evening and promising that construction works on a new school would start soon, Kenyans online scolded the DP reminding him of similar unfulfilled Jubilee promises in the past.
“Clueless chap, you don’t have an existing policy. All you do is a populist knee jerk reaction to endear yourself self to the public,” tweeted one user.
Others took the advantage to attack the DP, who has in the past been mentioned in a number of land-related scandals.

Despite these, Ruto assured that the Ministry of Education was going to carry out an audit to ascertain the safety of all school buildings countrywide to avert incidents that put the lives of learners at risk.
