Daruis Msagha’s Early Striker Lifts Bandari Over Sony Sugar

Bandari United made it two Kenya Premier League wins in a row after an early strike gave the Dockers a slender 1-0 win over Sony Sugar at the Awendo Green Stadium.

Bernard Mwalala’s earned their first league win of the season on Wednesday with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Zoo Kericho and they extended it with a professional showing against the Sugarmen.

The match was delayed for 15 minutes after Sony Sugar failed to provide adequate security personnel on time. The home side was first to show attacking initiative but Felly Mulumba was on hand to head clear a goal-bound cross from the left flank.

Bandari was however ahead after just 10 minutes of play. Meja Atariza put in a good low cross from the left that was missed by Shaban Kenga before being slammed home by Darius Msangha for the opener.

Sony, winless so far, upped the tempo and almost had an equalizer but Felly Mulumba again repelled them this time by bravely putting his body in the way of a powerful goal-bound shot.

The game then resulted in a series of retained possession from Bandari who were looking comfortable despite playing away from home. Mwalala’s side held on to record a second successive win and the third in 7 days.

The win moves them on second position on the table, level on points with Kakamega Homeboyz who have a better goal difference.

Next up for Bandari is a CAF Confederations Cup second leg match against Tunisia’s Ben Guerdane on Friday. Bandari has a two-goal advantage after winning the first leg 2-0.
