Wazito Coach Faults The ref After Leopards Defeat

Image may contain: 9 people, people playing sports and outdoorWazito FC head coach Fred Ambani has faulted the match officials for his side’s 1-0 defeat in the hands of AFC Leopards on Saturday, September 21 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.

A John Makwatta second-half penalty goal helped Ingwe pick maximum points from the match an in the end condemned Wazito to their first defeat of the season. The moneybags are yet to register a win this campaign.

Ambani, a former Leopards forward chose to blast the match officials whom he claims wrongly awarded Leopards a penalty, he went on to urge Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to ensure that competent refs are assigned games.

“The ref had a fixed mind, that shouldn’t have been a penalty. The laws have changed but it appears some match officials are yet to adapt to the new rules. FKF should ensure that we do not have such incompetent match officials handling our games because they hurt teams,” he said.

On his team’s performance, Ambani said he is satisfied with how his players performed but rued the chances that they squandered in the game.

“We played well but just like in our previous games we threw away many chances. It’s an area we really need to work on. We need to utilize the chances that we create because if we don’t they come to haunt us,” he added.
