Sports Kenya Eats Into AFC Leopards- Sharks Earnings

AFC Leopards have revealed that they collected Ksh. 452,800 from tickets sale during their match against Kariobangi Sharks last Sunday at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani. The match ended in a barren draw.

For the first time ever, Ingwe implemented online ticketing in a move aimed to curb revenue sales through fake tickets.

A total of 2200 fans showed up for the match and the club has now disclosed that it collected Ksh. 452,800 from ticket sale. A total of Ksh. 67,920 was paid to Sports Kenya as part of revenue share where they are entitled to 15% of the total revenue collected. This is in addition to 58,000 they received as Stadium hiring charges.

The Police who provided security during the match got Ksh. 20,000 while Ksh. 10,000 was paid for ambulance services while the ball boys shared a total of Ksh. 5,000. M-Ticket who was in charge of the ticketing process got Ksh. 27,167 bringing the total expenditure to Ksh. 188,088.

“We collected a total of 452,800/= from ticket sales. 58,000/= was paid to Sports Kenya as stadium hiring charges and a further 67,920/= paid to them as revenue share from the total gate collections (15%)”.

“Other payments included 20,000/= to the police, 10,000/= for the ambulance, 5000/= for the ball boys and 27,169/= commission to M-Ticket (who were in charge of the online ticketing process). The total expenditure was 188,088/=. The club banked 264,712/=. Thanks to all fans who showed up at Kasarani and purchased the match tickets,” the club posted on social media.

Next for Leopards is an away match against Wazito FC on Saturday, September 21. The match will be played at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.
