Elegeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen during a past function

Majority Leader of Senate Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday blasted the decision to cancel the Kimwarer Dam project by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Murkomen through a tweet, claimed that the Uhuru’s verdict was mislead by the people appointed to deal with the matter.

The Elegeyo Marakwet Senator pointed out that the committee that facilitated the termination of the project was ethnically biased.

“The composition of the technical committee doesn’t reflect ethnic and regional balance

” Maringa,Matu,Mwangi and Muiruri have sadly misled the President.” read a part of the tweet.

He further alleged that the committee was corrupt and had made it an agenda to see the project fail than have it benefit the people of that region.

“Tech committee didn’t consult anyone and didn’t carry out public participation. EMC has been denied rightful share of national projects in deliberate act of discrimination.

“They would rather default and pay contractors billions of money for breach of contract than to see our people benefit.” remarked Murkomen.

The politician however urged the Head of State to have a committee that constituted of people from all communities for transparency.

” I urge the President to constitute a transparent team that is national in character to look at all projects in Kenya and that which will not ethnically profile some regions for discrimination.

“We’re consulting as people of EMC and we shall do everything to ensure that justice is done.” noted the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator.

Earlier, Uhuru had thrown the project out of the door after it was revealed to have been overpriced.

Area that had been proposed for the Kimwarer Dam Project
