The Front-runners to Replace Unai Emery as Arsenal Manager

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is a marked man. The Spaniard has come under fire following a poor performance from the Gunners in their last Premier League match against Watford.

Arsenal drew the match despite having a healthy 2-0 lead at half time. The trend is a continuation of the final few months from last season when Arsenal blew a chance to finish in the top four and lost the Europa League final 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea.

This had led to calls from most Arsenal fans for his sacking. Below, we look at 3 managers who could replace the former PSG manager should he get sacked.

His appointment would not sit well with most Arsenal fans due to past rivalry with the Portuguese manager. However, one thing is clear, Jose Mourinho is a winner and has won league titles in Spain, England, Portugal, and Italy.

It is only at Manchester United where Mourinho failed to win the league but he won the Europa League and the Carabao Cup in his first season at Old Trafford. He is also a two-time European Champion with FC Porto and Inter Milan. Mourinho is currently jobless after parting ways with Manchester United last December.

Though not a full-time manager, Mikel Arteta is highly-regarded and is a very big part of Manchester City’s all-conquering machine. He currently serves as the assistant manager to Pep Guardiola and was interviewed for the Arsenal managerial job before Unai Emery was selected.

He also knows Arsenal well having played there for over 5 years where he also served as the captain.

Massimiliano Allegri

The former Juventus manager is a proven winner having won the Serie A with AC Milan and Juventus. He stepped down as Juventus boss in the summer and is currently without a job.

Allegri may not be an instant with Arsenal fans due to his defensive style of play but he guarantees trophies and a winning culture. The Italian qualified for two Champions League finals and was unlucky to lose to Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
