Former Sofapaka defender Moussa Omar is still club hunting after parting ways with Batoto Ba Mungu in July 2019.

The Burundian international requested termination of his contract by the KPL side over the nonpayment of his salary for a couple of months and has since returned to Burundi.

Speaking to Opera News, Omar disclosed that he’s yet to secure a new club and is now training with some local sides to maintain his fitness ahead of a possible move to a club within or outside the country.

“I have not signed for any club yet. Currently, I am at home in Burundi training with local teams. I am trying to remain fit in case an offer comes along. It could be a local club or one outside the country. I will keep working hard in training, I know that I will soon get a club, “he said.

On his time with Batoto Ba Mungu the defender said he had enjoyed his time in the Kenyan league and thanked the club and wished them well.

” I want to thank Sofapaka for the opportunity they gave me, I really enjoyed playing in the Kenyan Premier League, it’s a very intense league. I also want to wish them (Sofapaka) all the best this season,” he added.

Omar impressed for the Burundi national team during the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that was staged in Kenya and Sofapaka moved with speed to sign him. He went on to establish himself as a key player for the side.

He was also part of the Burundi national team squad at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt featuring in one of their three group matches. He was linked with a move to several Zambian clubs in July but he failed to nail down a club.
