Human rights activist and an-award winning photojournalist, Boniface Mwangi, on Thursday called out former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale accusing him of using DP Wiliam Ruto for hand-outs.

He described Khalwale as a one who had refused to downgrade his lifestyle after losing an election for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat to Wycliffe Oparanya.

“In Kenya, once an elected politician loses re-election, they become irrelevant and sometimes broke. They have to downgrade their lifestyle. The bullfighter has refused to do so,” he noted.

In a statement on his Twitter account, he further bashed Khalwale for his current political inclination to Jubilee Party as selfish ploy where “he wakes up to lick and suck the DP for handouts.”

In May, Khalwale announced his defection from Ford-Kenya to Jubilee, barely a week after his party summoned him to face a disciplinary committee over misconduct. He made the announcement at his Malinya home in Kakamega where he was hosting Deputy President William Ruto.

Since then, he has seemingly been enjoying a cordial relationship with Ruto and the Jubilee Party in general. On Wednesday, for instance, he, together with other politicians from the western region including former CS for Sports, Rashid Echesa, held consultations with Ruto with development in Kakamega taking the agenda for the day.

Khalwale was also seemingly tasked with taking charge of the Kibra by-election slated for November 7, 2019, after Jubilee fielded former footballer, Macdonald Mariga as its candidate.

He accompanied Mariga to the IEBC commission to present nomination certificates, as well as undergo scrutiny.

He joined Mariga in the disputes tribunal after the commission disqualified him from the Kibra by-election.
