England beat Kosovo 5-3 to top Group A of the Euro 2020 qualifiers. Gareth Southgate’s team were superb going forward but at the back, they were a calamity.
Jadon Sancho got two goals while Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane got one each with Ksosvo scoring an own goal to complete the rout. At the back, however, England was unconvincing and especially Manchester United’s and the World’s most expensive defender Harry Maguire.
The former Leicester City and Hull City center back’s passing from the back was non-existent from the first whistle and to make matters worse, he conceded a penalty in a hilarious manner.
First, he failed to deal with a simple low cross and while trying to correct his error the defender tripped Kosovo striker Muriqi and was lucky not to get sent off.
Interestingly, Maguire moved from Leicester City to Manchester United for a record fee of 80 Million Pounds in the Summer. Much was expected from him but as it turns out, fans might need to lower their expectations on him. Since his move to Old Trafford, the team has only kept one clean sheet in 4 matches.
