Real Madrid President Explains Why Team Has Been Performing Poorly

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says the team’s woeful run from last season has been down to the team’s success in the last few years.

Madrid has won three successive champions league titles prior to last season. The team’s 2018/19 campaign was difficult as the Los Blancos ended the season without a trophy and finished third in Laliga behind Barcelona and City Rivals Atletico Madrid.

In an interview, Perez said the team’s dwindling fortunes has been down to a lack of intensity due to previous success. He went on to state that the team returns to winning ways again backing coach Zinedine Zidane to lead the team to glory once again.

“Our success made us lose our intensity. We have to recover it. These players and this coach made us champions, so they’ll do it again. Last season wasn’t good and we have to reflect on the criticism,” Perez said.

Real has begun the 2019/20 season unconvincingly. The team has registered one win and two draws in its first three matches and are four points adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, captain, Sergio Ramos says Paul Pogba will improve the team should he join the Whites. Pogba had been linked with a move to the club in the summer but the move failed to materialize.

“For me, Pogba is one of the great players. I think he brings balance to a team. He has a great offensive influence and he has this amazing physique,” he said.
