Former Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga is set to pick his Jubilee Party nomination certificate for Kibra Parliamentary seat on Tuesday morning at the party headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi, Opera News has learnt.

Mariga was nominated by the ruling party to fly its flag following the demise of Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July this year.  Mariga is expected to square it out with Okoth’s brother Imran Okoth who is the ODM flag bearer and ANC’s Eliud Owalo among others.

The former Inter Milan and Parma midfielder stunned many when he announced that he was going for the seat. His decision to vie on a Jubilee ticket, in an area deemed to be an ODM stronghold has also been criticized by many who believe he is committing a political miscalculation.
