Atheist Community Makes Three Demands to DP Ruto

The Kenyan Atheist community has made demands to Deputy President William Ruto in a bid to seek support from the leader.

Through a press a statement, Harrison Mumia, who is the President of the society, stated that Ruto should offer support to the group similar to how he helps other religions.

Mumia gave the following three demands on what he wants the DP to deliver upon:

1. For Ruto to attend and donate finances at an event that will be held at Hotel Metro on September 14

2. The Deputy President to associate himself with the organisation in regards to how he has embraced both the Christian and Muslim communities.

3. The Kenyan Atheists want the leader to build schools and hospitals that are secular as a way of diversity.

According to the group, the money donated by the DP will help them carry out their activities as a community.

Mumia added that the Atheists in Kenya would aid the government in creating jobs and dealing with the street children problem facing the nation.

“We want to support the jobless in Kenya by setting up training centers that are based on secular values.

“We want to build children homes and assist the government eliminate the street children in the country.” read a part of the tweet.

In August 2018, the lobby group had asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to give them a public holiday in the month of February.

The demand came after Matiang’i declared August 21, 2018, as a public holiday to mark Idd ul Adha.

Through their Vice President Siongok, the society wanted February 17 be made a holiday for them to advocate their belief that God doesn’t exist.

“Kenyans who do not believe in God or gods deserve a public holiday too,” remarked Siongok.
