Two Officers Arrested in Connection to Sh72 Million Heist

DCI On Saturday arrested two police officers in Kisii and Kendu Bay, in connection with the Sh72 million heist from a Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Nairobi West.

Through a tweet, the authorities stated that Sh7 million was recovered in the ongoing investigation into the incident.

Detectives further explained that the two criminals were caught in possession of a subaru vehicle that had been bought using the stolen money.

According to the officers, they two were planning to escape into Uganda with the money before they were apprehended.

The suspects were identified as AP Constable Chris Ayienda Machogu and Police Constable Vincent Owour.

The law enforcers pointed out that they interrogated Machogu who gave up his accomplice and recovered the money in his house at Kendu Bay.

Machogu and Owour remained in police custody awaiting to be charged in court.

On Friday, three suspects were arrested and two cars indicated to have been used in the operation recovered by DCI officers.

It was revealed that one of the vehicles was already being repainted at a garage identified as Owino’s garage, in Kikuyu Town.

Six G4S employees had also been apprehend and presented in court on the same day where they were ordered to remain in police custody for 7 days to facilitate completion of the investigations.
