Exclusive:AFC Leopards Midfielder Heads To Spain For Trials

AFC Leopards will be without midfielder Saad Musa for an unspecified period of time. The central midfielder has left for Spain where he is set to attend a training camp cum trials.

Saad was a key player for Leopards last season featuring immensely in the second leg under Rwandese tactician Andre Casa Mbungo as Ingwe fought hard to avoid the drop from the Kenyan Premier League.

He was part of the team during pre-season featuring in a number of matches during Leopards’ torrid run during pre-season.

Club Secretary General Oliver Sikuku has now revealed that the player will be away for sometime as he has been granted permission to attend a training camp in Europe.

“I can confirm that Saad has left for Spain. He will be attending a skills-improvement training camp which will also be like trials. If he impresses then maybe he can get a deal there. He remains our player until such a time when we will be approached by another club for his services,” Sikuku told Opera News.

Sikuku believes that the team will cope with Saad’s absence.

” I think we have enough cover in that area. We have some good midfielders and I don’t think the team will suffer in his absence,” he added.

A product of Mumias Muslim Primary School, Saad had a short stint in Tanzania with Azam Academy before returning to Kenya where he joined Nairobi City Stars.

He later moved to Thika United, his stay in Thika was however injury plagued and he didn’t feature in many matches for the now Division One side. In June 2018 he moved to AFC Leopards.
