Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga has urged Kenyans to rally behind the team when the team takes on Uganda in an international friendly match on Sunday, September 8 at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
Stars will be back in action on Sunday after the unceremonious exit from the 2020 African Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in the hands of Tanzania a month ago. The friendly match against their East African rivals will be used as part of their preparations for forthcoming 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking ahead of the duel, Olunga, who was named skipper in the absence of Victor Wanyama who withdrew from the squad due to injury lauded Uganda terming Cranes a good side. He went on to urge fans to rally behind the Kenya team on Sunday against Abdallah Mubiru’s side.
“Uganda is an experienced team that managed to reach the last 16 at this year’s AFCON. Our team is equally ready and I’m confident we will get a positive result. I would like to thank our fans for their support in Egypt, and I urge them to also come in large numbers in the friendly match against Uganda on Sunday,” he said.
